FAQ

1. Do you offer Gluten-Friendly options?

YES! We have plenty of gluten-friendly options. Our beef burger recipe has NO GLUTEN in it! We offer a gluten-free bun or lettuce wraps as well, our fries are deep fried in a separate fryer so there is no cross contamination. We offer a grilled chicken breast on your burger instead of breaded chicken or you could try our Cashew Chicken Salad. A few of our poutines are GF too! Check out our Mennonite poutine or chili cheese fries for a gluten friendly option. We also have a wide variety of gluten-friendly dessert options as well, just ask your server. However, people with severe allergies or Celiac disease should know that our facility does not have a separate area for cooking and some cross contamination may occur.

2. How did you come up with the name Charley B’s?

We love this question! Charllotte’s late grandmother used to call her Charley Brown when she was a munchkin and we decided to use the name as an ode to her. We think it has a much better ring to it than Katie L’s anyway.

3. Where does your beef come from for your burgers?

We pick up our beef freshly ground every morning from Southern Meats. For those who don’t know, Southern Meats offers steroid and hormone free beef with no organs or preservatives. Once we get the beef back to Charley B’s, we mix and press each patty by hand. From there our patties head to our cooler, ready to sizzle hit that grill once you order one!

4. Why do I have to wait 15 minutes for my food?

In efforts to keep our food as fresh as possible, we only start to cook it once you order it. Our 5 ounce all beef patties take anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes to cook to perfection. If you prefer not to wait here for your order, feel give us a call at 204-331-3663 or order online.

5. Can you accommodate large groups?

Our patio seats up to 72 people comfortably and the tables are movable. If you would like us to cater an office lunch, we have done plenty of these in the past and would be happy to serve you at your work place. We also offer ice cream catering. Email catering@charleybsgrill.ca or call us for details.

6. How long is your season?

This all depends on the snow. If it lingers, we will wait to open until we know we’re in the clear. Usually we open in mid-March and close for the season in mid-November.

7. Are your veggies organic?

We try to get as much of our veggies from local producers as possible when they’re in season. Our veggies come from many different suppliers at different times of year. So the answer to this question is sometimes.

8. What do you consider “local”?

We use products from all across Southern Manitoba. We call it “Building our Community”. We use milk from Stoney Brook Creamery, buns from Manitou Bakery, honey from Steppler Farms and products in Winkler too. Coffee from Other Brother Roasters and pork/beef from Southern Meats. See our local partners page for more info.

9. Is your ice cream homemade?

We love this question because the answer is YES! In 2017 we started manufacturing our very own small batch hard ice cream. What does small batch mean you ask? Small batch means that we make every flavour of hard ice cream in small batches in efforts to keep the ice cream super fresh! And how cool is it that we have a local dairy processor to partner with and use as our dairy ingredient? We try to keep all the ingredients in our hard ice cream as simple and natural as possible using sugar, cream, milk, salt and vanilla as our base!

10. Do you offer vegan or dairy-free options?

The answer to this is also yes. We have a few different choices including: fries, sweet potato fries and 1 flavour of small batch hard ice cream is always vegan. There are some beverage options as well, and during the summer we sell Dole soft serve!
